The Pious Bird of Good Omen
The Pious Bird of Good Omen is a blues rock compilation from the British band Fleetwood Mac, released on Blue Horizon on 15 August 1969. It gathers their first four non-album UK singles along with the B-sides, then adds one track from their debut album and two from Mr. Wonderful.
It also includes two tracks by the blues artist Eddie Boyd, with members of Fleetwood Mac backing him. They come from Boyd's album 7936 South Rhodes. Arriving in the middle of the band's blues-driven early years, long before the records that made them a household name, it pulls together singles that might otherwise be scattered, and it shows the group working alongside a bluesman they clearly admired. A handy way into the earliest Fleetwood Mac story.
