Abbey Road
This is the 50th Anniversary Edition of Abbey Road, an expanded reissue of the Beatles' 1969 album, released in 2019. It was timed to mark half a century since the original came out, and it sits late in the band's story, with the record itself dating from the final years of their run together.
The main draw is a new stereo remix by Giles Martin, son of the Beatles' producer George Martin. It's a nice bit of continuity: the son revisiting the sound that his father helped shape. For anyone who knows the album well, it offers a fresh way to hear familiar songs, and for newcomers it's a handsome way in to one of the band's best-loved records.
