Yellow Submarine Songtrack
Yellow Submarine Songtrack is a compilation and soundtrack album from the Beatles, released on 13 September 1999 on Apple Records. It appeared to accompany the re-release of the 1968 animated film. It stands apart from the 1969 Yellow Submarine album by dropping the seven George Martin orchestral pieces and adding the Beatles songs from the film that the original record had left off. The one exception is "A Day in the Life", which EMI omitted to limit the number of Sgt. Pepper tracks. Martin's full score went onto a DVD audio track in the CD/DVD package.
The real draw is the sound. Peter Cobbin remixed the songs at Abbey Road Studios from the original multitrack tapes, which was not done for the late-1980s CD releases of the catalogue (apart from Help! and Rubber Soul) or the 2009 remasters. It reached number 8 in the UK and number 15 on the Billboard 200, and was reissued on CD in 2012.
