Nowhere Man
Nowhere Man is a four-track EP from the Beatles, released on 8 July 1966 on Parlophone. It was the band's twelfth EP and came out in mono only. The songs are all taken from Rubber Soul, which had appeared in December 1965, and the sleeve shows the group beneath a cedar tree in the grounds of Chiswick House in West London, photographed by Bob Whitaker. The same tree turns up in the films for "Paperback Writer" and "Rain".
It sits at the tail end of the EP habit, when record companies lifted the most popular tracks from a recent album and repackaged them. It reached number 4 on the UK EP chart. Two of its songs, "Nowhere Man" and "Drive My Car", had been left off the American Rubber Soul, so US listeners found them on Yesterday and Today instead. "Michelle" also became a hit in some European countries and in New Zealand.
