Yesterday
Yesterday is a Beatles EP, the band's eleventh, released on 4 March 1966 by Parlophone in the UK. It came out in mono only, with a cover photograph by Robert Whitaker. Portugal, Spain and Brazil also got the record, the Brazilian pressing using a different cover photo.
It is a modest but successful footnote in the group's run of releases from the mid-sixties, sitting in the same year as Revolver. The EP entered the UK EP chart on 12 March 1966 and from 26 March held the number one spot for six weeks. In total it stayed on the chart for 13 weeks. For anyone tracing how the band's music reached British listeners in the small-format records of the day, it is a neat piece of the story.
