The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl
The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl was the band's first official live album, released on 4 May 1977 by Capitol Records. It gathers songs from three shows at the Hollywood Bowl, recorded in August 1964 and August 1965. In the United Kingdom it appeared on Parlophone, while Capitol handled the United States and Canada.
It catches the group at the height of their touring years, in the middle of the stretch that took them from Beatles for Sale to Rubber Soul on record. If you only know them through the studio albums, this is a chance to hear them as a live act. The set was later remixed, remastered and expanded as Live at the Hollywood Bowl, issued on 9 September 2016 and released on CD for the first time to coincide with Ron Howard's documentary The Beatles: Eight Days a Week.
