Album
Youthanasia
Youthanasia is the sixth studio album by American heavy metal band Megadeth, released on 1 November 1994 through Capitol Records. It follows Countdown to Extinction from 1992 and sits close to it in style, so it reads as the second half of a pairing rather than a sharp change of direction. The title is a pun suggesting that society is putting its young to death.
The sleeve is hard to forget: an elderly woman hangs babies by their feet along a clothes line that seems to have no end, taken straight from a line in the title track. The album drew positive reviews, reached number 4 on the Billboard 200 and went platinum in the United States in 1995. A remixed and remastered edition, with bonus tracks and detailed liner notes, followed on 27 July 2004.
