EP
VROOOM
VROOOM is a mini-album from King Crimson, released in October 1994. It works as a prequel to THRAK, the full-length record that followed in 1995, and it was the first release to feature the band's "double trio": guitarists Robert Fripp and Adrian Belew, bassists Trey Gunn and Tony Levin, and drummers Bill Bruford and Pat Mastelotto.
It makes a good companion to THRAK, because most of its tracks were re-recorded for that album the following year. The exceptions are "Cage" and "When I Say Stop, Continue", which stayed unique to this EP. Listening to both lets you compare early takes with the finished versions. For anyone curious about the sessions, a collection of instrumental improvisations and works-in-progress appeared in 1999 on the King Crimson Collectors Club as The Vrooom Sessions.
