The Nightwatch: Live at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw November 23rd 1973
The Nightwatch captures King Crimson on stage at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw on 23 November 1973. It was released as a two-CD set on 17 October 1997 through BMG, part of the band's run of archive live releases from the English progressive rock group.
The recording comes from the period just after Larks' Tongues in Aspic, released earlier that year, and before Starless and Bible Black arrived in 1974. That places it in the middle of a fast-moving stretch for the band, when their studio albums were appearing close together. For anyone who knows the records from that era, it offers a chance to hear the group in concert rather than in the studio, in a Dutch hall whose name sits right in the title.
