The Fat of the Land is the third studio album by the Prodigy, the English electronic group who had already made their mark with Experience in 1992 and Music for the Jilted Generation in 1994. It came out on XL Recordings on 30 June 1997, and it sits at the point where a hard-edged British dance act became a global name.

Its mix of big beat, breakbeat, techno and breakbeat hardcore drew strong reviews and carried it to number one on both the UK Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200. It has sold over 10 million copies worldwide, making it the group's best-selling record. For anyone who wants to hear why electronic music crashed so loudly into rock fans' collections, this is the place to start. Later albums such as Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned followed in 2004.
