What Evil Lurks
What Evil Lurks is a four-track EP from the Prodigy, released on 25 February 1991 on Torso Dance. It came out on 12" vinyl in a limited run and sold around 7,000 copies. The title track samples the opening line of a 1930s American radio show about the adventure hero The Shadow: "What evil lurks in the heart of men?"
It is an early snapshot of Liam Howlett's work. All four songs came from the ten-track demo he sent to XL Recordings while chasing a record deal. "Android" had already appeared in November 1990, and this release carries the original "Everybody in the Place", which differs from the later "Fairground Version". The EP was reissued in a limited edition on 27 September 2004 for XL's 15th anniversary.
