Voodoo People
"Voodoo People" is an EP from The Prodigy, released in 1994. It takes its title track from their second album, Music for the Jilted Generation, where it appeared as the third single and the group's eighth overall. Liam Howlett wrote and produced it, and the sound sits across big beat, techno, breakbeat and jungle.
The track's centrepiece is a heavy guitar riff, played by Lance Riddler and based on Nirvana's "Very Ape", which gives the electronic rhythms an unusually rock-minded edge. That mix is a good way into the group's mid-1990s sound, between the rave roots of Experience and the huge success they would find with The Fat of the Land. The video, directed by Walter Stern and Russell Curtis, was filmed in Saint Lucia.
