Album
Blizzard of Ozz
Blizzard of Ozz is Ozzy Osbourne's first solo studio album, released in September 1980 on Jet Records. It arrived after his dismissal from Black Sabbath in 1979, and it shows a singer starting again with a new band and something to prove. The key partner was guitarist Randy Rhoads, and this is the first of the two studio albums they made together before his death in 1982. Diary of a Madman followed in 1981.
The record gave Osbourne two singles, "Crazy Train" and "Mr. Crowley", with the former reaching No. 49 in the UK. "Suicide Solution" later drew controversy when it was linked to a teenager's suicide in 1984. The album has still been widely praised, and in 2017 Rolling Stone placed it ninth in its list of the 100 greatest metal albums. It is a good place to hear how Osbourne's solo career began.
