Heaven and Hell
Heaven and Hell is Black Sabbath's ninth studio album, and it marked a fresh start for the band. Ronnie James Dio arrived in 1979 to take over from original vocalist Ozzy Osbourne, and this was his first record with them. Martin Birch produced it, and it came out through Vertigo in April 1980.
It followed Never Say Die! and was the record that showed Sabbath could carry on with a new voice at the front. It did well, particularly in America, where it reached number 28 on the Billboard 200 and went platinum. In the UK it was certified silver in 1982. If you want to hear how the band sounded after the Osbourne years, this is the place to start.
