Love Over Gold
Love Over Gold is the fourth studio album by Dire Straits, released in September 1982. It sits between Making Movies and the band's huge mid-eighties record Brothers in Arms, and it is a more expansive, unhurried affair, with just five tracks on the whole record. The title track never came out as a single, though a live version from Alchemy: Dire Straits Live later charted in several countries, including the UK.
Two singles came from it. "Private Investigations" climbed to number 2 on the UK singles chart, while "Industrial Disease" reached number 9 on Billboard's Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in the United States. The album itself went to number one in the UK, Australia, Austria, Italy, New Zealand and Norway, and reached number 19 in the US. It is well worth hearing for a band stretching out with fewer, longer songs.
