ExtendedancEPlay
ExtendedancEPlay is a 12-inch EP from Dire Straits, released in 1983 on Vertigo. It arrived between Love Over Gold and Brothers in Arms, and it is the first release to feature drummer Terry Williams, who stepped in after Pick Withers left the band in 1982.
The material is upbeat, with a rock and roll, jazz and swing feel. The international version has three tracks, while the US edition adds a fourth, "Badges, Posters, Stickers, T-Shirts", an outtake from the Love Over Gold sessions that appeared elsewhere as the B-side to "Private Investigations". "Twisting by the Pool" is the best-known song here, and it later turned up on the compilations Money for Nothing and Sultans of Swing: The Very Best of Dire Straits. A live "Two Young Lovers" is on Alchemy. The EP itself has never had a proper CD release, which makes it a record to hunt for on vinyl.
