Encores
Encores is a live EP from Dire Straits, released on 10 May 1993 on Vertigo. It appeared alongside the band's live album On the Night, working as a companion piece to that fuller concert record. Though it was an EP, it found its way onto the singles charts in several countries, and it went in at number one in France, Portugal and Spain.
It also has a place in the band's closing chapter. Following On Every Street in 1991, this was the group's final release before they were officially dissolved in 1995, when Mark Knopfler chose to pursue a solo career. For anyone who loves the band's bluesy rock sound in a live setting, it is a short, worthwhile footnote to their story. In November 2023 it was also included in the box set anthology Live 1978-1992.
