Get a Grip
Get a Grip is Aerosmith's eleventh studio album, released on 20 April 1993 through Geffen. It followed Permanent Vacation and Pump, and like those records it leaned on outside songwriters, among them Desmond Child, Jim Vallance, Mark Hudson, Richie Supa, Taylor Rhodes, Jack Blades and Tommy Shaw. It was the last album the band made for Geffen before they returned to Columbia.
It proved to be their biggest seller worldwide, passing 20 million copies, and it gave them their first US number one album. In America it sold over 7 million by 1995, level with Pump. Two of its songs won Grammys for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, in 1993 and 1994. Don Henley sings backup on "Amazing", and Lenny Kravitz adds vocals and collaboration to "Line Up". "Livin' on the Edge" also won Best Video in Metal Edge's readers' poll.
