Honkin’ on Bobo
Honkin' on Bobo is Aerosmith's fourteenth studio album, released on Columbia in 2004. It is a blues record at heart: eleven covers of songs from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, plus one new original, "The Grind". Rather than chasing another polished radio hit, the band look back at the music that first shaped them.
The sound is rawer than on their more recent, commercially minded albums, and that is much of the appeal. Jack Douglas, who produced most of their 1970s work, is back in the chair, which helps give it a looser, more immediate feel. It reached number five on the Billboard 200 and went gold in the US. Between Just Push Play and Music From Another Dimension!, it is the one where Aerosmith go back to their roots.
