Ixnay on the Hombre
Ixnay on the Hombre is the fourth studio album by the Offspring, released on 4 February 1997. It was their first record for Columbia, and it followed the enormous success of Smash in 1994. They went into the studio in the middle of 1996, and for the first time Thom Wilson wasn't behind the desk: Dave Jerden produced instead. The title mixes Pig Latin and Spanish to land on a blunt anti-authority message.
The album debuted at number nine on the US Billboard 200 and was well received by critics and fans alike. It went on to earn platinum certification from the RIAA and has sold over three million copies worldwide. Four singles came from it: "All I Want", "Gone Away", "The Meaning of Life" and "I Choose". It's an interesting snapshot of a punk band adjusting to life on a major label after a huge breakthrough.
