Sap
Sap is the second EP from Alice in Chains, released on 4 February 1992 through Columbia. It is mostly acoustic, a quieter side of a band better known for heavy riffs, and it marks the first time guitarist Jerry Cantrell takes the lead vocal on an Alice in Chains release, on "Brother". The band produced it with Rick Parashar.
The guest list is a snapshot of the Seattle scene, with Ann Wilson of Heart, Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and Mark Arm of Mudhoney all lending vocals. "Got Me Wrong" found a wider audience two years later when it appeared on the soundtrack to the film Clerks, and the EP went gold in the US in January 1994. It sits between Facelift and Dirt, and is well worth hearing for its stripped-back mood.
