Generation Terrorists
Generation Terrorists is the debut album from Welsh band Manic Street Preachers, released on 10 February 1992 by Columbia. It was recorded between July and December 1991, and arrived with plenty of noise already around it. The single "Motown Junk" had given them an outsized press profile, and the band had announced that their first record would be the greatest rock album ever made and would sell around sixteen million copies, from Bangkok to Senegal.
It didn't reach those numbers, but it did go Gold in the UK and placed within the Top 100 in Japan. Musically it sits across glam rock, hard rock and glam metal, with an alternative rock edge. It's the starting point for a career that runs through to the present day, and it's worth hearing to catch the band at their most brazen, swinging for the biggest target they could find.
