End of the Century is the Ramones' fifth studio album, released on 4 February 1980 through Sire Records. It was the first to be produced by Phil Spector, and the first made without Tommy Ramone, who had left in 1978 but had produced the previous record, Road to Ruin. Spector brought polished studio methods, including careful overdubbing and echo chambers, and a budget of around $200,000, far beyond anything the band had worked with before.

The songs lean towards pop, with themes from drug addiction to life on tour, plus a cover of the Ronettes' "Baby, I Love You". The band, used to recording quickly, clashed with Spector's painstaking approach, and some critics were cooler on the results. Still, it is the Ramones' highest-charting album, reaching number 44 in the US and number 14 in the UK. "Do You Remember Rock 'n' Roll Radio?" is the other single, and it makes a fine place to start.
