Live at the Fillmore East 1968
Live at the Fillmore East 1968 captures the Who on stage in New York City on 6 April 1968. It was released on 20 April 2018 by Polydor, as a double CD and a triple LP. It arrived between The Who Sell Out and Tommy, when the band were still a few records into their career.
The tapes were made by manager Kit Lambert for a possible live album, which was cut to acetate but shelved. Bootlegs of it later circulated, and fans kept asking for a proper release. This edition has the whole April 6 set apart from the openers "Substitute" and "Pictures of Lily", of which only fragments survived. The big draw is a 33-minute "My Generation", new to listeners, and much of Townshend's stage banter is kept, including his joke about the venue's old name.
