BBC Sessions
BBC Sessions is a live compilation from the Who, released on 15 February 2000 by Polydor internationally and by MCA in the US. It gathers 24 songs and two jingles, all recorded at the BBC studios in London. The jingles open and close the record, and the songs between them run in chronological order, give or take one track that has wandered out of place.
Most of the material comes from the radio programmes Top Gear and Saturday Club, captured between May 1965 and October 1967, which takes in the band's earliest years through to the time of The Who Sell Out. Later tracks come from a 1970 session for the Dave Lee Travis Show and a 1973 appearance on The Old Grey Whistle Test. It makes a handy companion to the studio albums, letting you hear the band as the BBC's microphones found them.
