Hooligans

Popularity58.1

Hooligans is a double-album compilation by the Who, released on 11 September 1981 by MCA Records. It leans heavily on the band's 1970s material, with only three songs from the previous decade: "I Can't Explain", "I Can See for Miles" and "Pinball Wizard". It reached No. 52 on the US charts, and the title and cover design were the work of Richard Evans.

Its real appeal is for collectors. This was the first American album to gather three singles that were hard to track down in the US: "Let's See Action", "Join Together" and "Relay". The first, a 1971 UK single that never came out in the States, appears here as "(Nothing Is Everything) Let's See Action". The other two were issued in 1972, and "Relay" is given its US title, "The Relay", in an edit that fades out about 25 seconds early. It arrived the same year as Face Dances, a few months before It's Hard.
