White Pony
White Pony is the third studio album by American alternative metal band Deftones, released on 20 June 2000 through Maverick. It follows Adrenaline and Around the Fur, and sees the band reunite with producer Terry Date. Sessions took place at The Plant Recording Studios in Sausalito, California, with extra recording at Larrabee Sound Studios in West Hollywood.
This is where the group's sound opens up. Post-hardcore, trip hop, shoegaze, progressive rock and post-rock all find their way into the heaviness they were known for. Frank Delgado joins as a full-time member on turntables and synthesizer, and Chino Moreno starts adding rhythm guitar. "Change (In the House of Flies)" and "Back to School (Mini Maggit)" were the singles, and "Elite" won the Grammy for Best Metal Performance. Reviews were largely positive, and many see it as the band's most mature work up to that point.
