Stray Blues: A Collection of B-Sides
Stray Blues: A Collection of B-Sides is a compilation of Beck's B-sides, released on 13 June 2000 by Geffen. It was issued only in Japan, which makes it something of a curiosity for anyone tracking down the odds and ends around his mid-'90s breakthrough.
The tracklist includes "Burro", a Spanish-language version of "Jack-Ass", and a cover of Skip Spence's "Halo of Gold". It sits between Midnite Vultures and Sea Change in Beck's story, and shows the folk, country and hip-hop sides of his sound in looser, more offhand form. Apart from "Totally Confused" and "Halo of Gold", every song was later included on the deluxe edition of Odelay, so those two are the real draw for completists.
