More is Pink Floyd's first soundtrack album, written for the film of the same name, which was shot mainly on Ibiza and marked Barbet Schroeder's debut as a director. It came out on 13 June 1969 and sits third in the band's run of studio albums, after The Piper at the Gates of Dawn and A Saucerful of Secrets.
It is also the first Pink Floyd record made without any involvement from Syd Barrett, their former frontman and principal songwriter, so it shows the band finding their feet in a new shape. The music ranges across rock, psychedelic rock and blues, with art rock and progressive leanings. Reviews were mixed at the time, yet the album reached the UK top ten, and several of its songs stayed in the live set over the following years. It makes a good stop for anyone tracing the band's path between the Barrett era and the bigger records of the 1970s.
