Album
School’s Out
School's Out is the fifth studio album by the American band Alice Cooper, released on 13 June 1972 on Warner Bros. Records. It followed Killer, which had given the group their breakthrough, and it moved them further up the ladder. The record reached No. 2 on the US Billboard 200 and spent four weeks at No. 1 in Canada, a clear sign of how fast the band's audience was growing.
The title track did even better as a single. It climbed to No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100, reached No. 3 in Canada and went to No. 1 in the UK. The album sits between Killer and Billion Dollar Babies in the band's run of early-seventies records, and its sound draws on hard rock, glam, garage and art rock. If you want to hear where Alice Cooper's theatrical streak met a big, shouty hit, this is the place to start.
