Album
Billion Dollar Babies
Billion Dollar Babies is the sixth studio album by the American band Alice Cooper, released on 27 February 1973 by Warner Bros. Records. It follows School's Out from 1972 and sits just before Muscle of Love, later the same year. Recording took place in two places, Connecticut and London, and the songs sit somewhere between hard rock and glam rock.
It was the band's best-selling record up to that point, reaching number one on the album charts in both the United States and the United Kingdom, and earning platinum certification from the RIAA. The lyrics are gleefully dark, taking in necrophilia, dental fear, horror and sexual harassment. Critics including Robert Christgau, Greg Prato and Jason Thompson have since spoken well of it, though The Rolling Stone Album Guide was cooler, giving it two and a half stars. It's a good place to hear the band at their commercial peak.
