The Best of The Pink Floyd
The Best of The Pink Floyd is a compilation gathering early Pink Floyd, drawing on singles and album tracks from 1967 to 1968. It was released in 1970 on Columbia Records and has also appeared under the title Masters of Rock.
It catches the band in their psychedelic rock beginnings, the stretch that took in The Piper at the Gates of Dawn in 1967 and A Saucerful of Secrets in 1968. Coming out in the same year as Atom Heart Mother, it offers a look back at where they started, well before the run of albums from The Dark Side of the Moon onwards. For anyone curious about the group's first chapter, it makes a handy, focused way in.
