Mirage
Mirage is Fleetwood Mac's thirteenth studio album, released in July 1982 on Warner Bros. Records. It followed Tusk from 1979, a far more experimental record, and the band chose a smoother, softer rock sound this time, with a clear pop sheen throughout.
That approach paid off in the singles. "Hold Me" climbed to number four on the US Billboard pop chart and stayed there for seven weeks, while "Gypsy" reached number 12 and "Love in Store" number 22. In the UK, "Oh Diane" got to number nine, and "Can't Go Back" reached number 83. "Wish You Were Here" was issued only in Jamaica, where it went to the top of the singles chart. It is a good place to hear the band after the adventurousness of Tusk, settling into a more melodic mood.
