Twilight of the Innocents
Twilight of the Innocents is the fifth studio album by Ash, the Northern Irish rock band, and it came out in July 2007 on Infectious Records. It followed guitarist Charlotte Hatherley's departure in early 2006, so the band, now working without her, set up at Bang Studios in New York City. Tim Wheeler produced, with bassist Mark Hamilton and drummer Rick McMurray as associate producers.
It's a pop and power pop record that pushes Hamilton's bass parts to the front, and critics noted the use of strings and the consistency of the songwriting. Reviews were generally positive. The album reached number 32 in the UK, and all three singles charted there, with "You Can't Have It All" doing best at number 16. "Polaris" and "End of the World" are the other two to look out for.
