"Numbskull" is a limited single from Ash, released on 26 April 1999 on Infectious Records. It was the third single from their album Nu-Clear Sounds, and it came out as an individually numbered run of 5,000 copies, on CD and as a double 7" set. The song itself sits at track seven on the album, which first appeared on 5 October 1998.

It arrived between 1977 and Free All Angels in the band's run of studio albums, so it catches them in the Nu-Clear Sounds era. The video, directed by Darran Tiernan, drew controversy for its graphic content, with band members shown in sex scenes involving sadomasochism, alongside nudity, self-mutilation and drug use. The song later turned up again as the closing track on Intergalactic Sonic 7″s, released on 9 September 2002, which makes this a handy way in for anyone collecting the singles.
