Heroes Are Hard to Find is Fleetwood Mac's ninth studio album, released on 13 September 1974 on Warner Bros. Records. It was the first of their studio records made in the United States, cut in Los Angeles, and it arrived in the wake of a legal dispute with their longtime manager, Clifford Davis, over the use of the band's name and their copyright. An injunction obtained by Davis held up its release in the UK.

It is the last album Bob Welch recorded with the band, and it sits at a hinge in their story. It reached No. 34 on the US Billboard 200, their highest placing there up to that point, and a North American tour carried on into December. Welch left later that month, replaced by Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, who went on to make several multi-platinum albums with Fleetwood Mac. For anyone tracing how the group became a Californian pop-rock act, this is the record where that move begins.
