25 Years: The Chain
25 Years: The Chain is Fleetwood Mac's career-spanning box set, released on 23 November 1992. Across four CDs it follows the band from its formation in 1967 right up to 1992, taking in the blues-rooted beginnings and the later line-ups that turned the group into a pop-rock fixture. A condensed two-disc edition was issued too, for anyone wanting the story in a smaller package.
What makes it worth hearing is the sweep. Fleetwood Mac's studio catalogue runs from Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac in 1968 through Rumours, Tusk and Tango in the Night, and this set lets you hear how those very different chapters connect. Rhino Records reissued it in 2012, and that edition reached number nine in the UK, number two in Australia and number one in New Zealand.
