The Biggest Thing Since Colossus is an Otis Spann album, released on Blue Horizon on 9 January 1969. Spann was an American blues pianist and singer, and the record is filed under Fleetwood Mac because the band backed him while touring in America. He had already played on the Blues Jam at Chess sessions, and a rapport with the British players grew from there, leading to this follow-up.

Peter Green, Danny Kirwan and John McVie all play on it. Mick Fleetwood sits out, since it was agreed in advance that Spann's friend and longtime associate S.P. Leary would take the drums. "Walkin'" came out as a single in some countries, backed with a different version of "Temperature Is Rising (98.8°F)". It's a good one for hearing Green's band in the service of a Chicago blues veteran. The 2006 double CD, The Complete Blue Horizon Sessions, gathers everything from the sessions.
