The Ultimate Collection
The Ultimate Collection is a Black Sabbath greatest hits compilation, released by Sanctuary Records on 28 October 2016. The band's own members curated the track selection, and the recordings were remastered by engineer Andy Pearce.
It arrived while Black Sabbath were out on The End Tour, their final run of concerts. That makes it a handy marker of where the story stood at the time: a career stretching from their self-titled debut in 1970 to 13 in 2013, boiled down by the people who lived it. For anyone wanting the hard rock and heavy metal essentials in one place, with a fresh remaster, it offers a band-approved route in.
