The Link
The Link is the second studio album from Gojira, the French heavy metal band. It followed their debut, Terra incognita, in 2001, and came out on 18 April 2003 through Boycott Rec. It sits between that first record and From Mars to Sirius, the album that came in 2005. Its sound draws on death metal, groove metal, sludge and progressive metal, so it's a useful snapshot of a band still shaping its identity.
The track "Indians" was issued as a single. The album was remastered and reissued in 2005 by Listenable Records, the band's former label. In September 2012 Listenable also pressed it on vinyl, in a strictly limited run of 250 copies split between black and red. If you want to hear where Gojira's heavy, searching style took root before the later records, this is the one to start with.
