Results May Vary
Results May Vary is the fourth studio album from Limp Bizkit, released on 23 September 2003 through Flip and Interscope. It arrived after guitarist Wes Borland left in 2001, leaving Fred Durst in sole charge. Mike Smith of Snot was brought in as a replacement, but his stay was short, so Durst and a string of guests covered most of the guitar parts.
The record steps away from the band's usual formula. Hip-hop and nu metal are still present, but there is less rapping and more reflection on heartbreak, bullying and self-pity, with touches of alternative rock, acoustic, funk and jazz. A cover of the Who's "Behind Blue Eyes" and "Eat You Alive" both got star-studded videos. It reached number 3 on the US Billboard 200 and went platinum, though it sold well below its two predecessors and drew mostly negative reviews. It is worth hearing as the band's most unguarded and unusual turn.
