Falling Into Infinity
Falling Into Infinity is the fourth studio album by the American progressive metal band Dream Theater, released on 23 September 1997 through EastWest Records America. It follows Awake from 1994 and arrived after keyboardist Kevin Moore had left the group. His replacement, Derek Sherinian, plays on this record and no other Dream Theater studio album, which gives it a distinct place in the band's catalogue.
The record was produced by Kevin Shirley and made in June 1997 at Avatar Studios in Manhattan, formerly known as Power Station Studios. Writing and pre-production were tense, with the label pushing the band towards something more radio-friendly. That tug between ambition and accessibility is the story behind the album, and it makes for an interesting listen before the band moved on to Metropolis, Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory in 1999.
