Fight for the Rock
Fight for the Rock is the third studio album by American heavy metal band Savatage, released on 30 June 1986 on Atlantic. It follows Sirens and Power of the Night, and it is the first record to feature bassist Johnny Lee Middleton. Hall of the Mountain King came next in 1987.
It is also the album the band themselves like least, once nicknaming it "Fight for the Nightmare". Atlantic pushed them towards a more pop-rock sound, and Jon Oliva ended up recording songs he had first written for other artists on the label, including John Waite. The press was unkind, and the cover carried a Parental Advisory sticker despite there being no bad language, a label idea to lift sales. The record did chart, and the tour featured "Hyde" and "The Edge of Midnight". Hear it as a revealing chapter in the band's story.
