The Wake of Magellan is the tenth studio album from the American heavy metal band Savatage, released on 15 September 1997 through CID. It came out in Europe and Japan first, with a US release following in April 1998. The band's sound sits across heavy metal, rock and power metal.

Within the Savatage story, it matters for two reasons. It was the first time since Hall of the Mountain King in 1987 that the band went into a new record with the same line-up as the one before, and it was the last album to feature Zachary Stevens on lead vocals. The liner notes thank Dream Theater, a link that makes sense given the shared history between guitarist Al Pitrelli and keyboard player Derek Sherinian, who went to college together and toured with Alice Cooper.
