Still the Orchestra Plays: Greatest Hits, Volume 1 & 2
Still the Orchestra Plays: Greatest Hits, Volume 1 & 2 is a Savatage compilation released on 2 March 2010 through earMUSIC. The title comes from a lyric in the title track of Gutter Ballet, and the set spans the American band's power and progressive metal output. It was their first release of any kind in almost nine years, following the studio album Poets and Madmen in 2001.
The collection holds some fresh material too. Jon Oliva recorded three new acoustic tracks in 2009, singing lead, and they close the second disc. The package also brings the band's Japan Live '94 video to DVD officially for the first time, having previously survived only on VHS and bootleg discs. In 2010 the album reached No. 1 on the Greek Albums Chart, a fair sign of how much the band's following still cared.
