Stain
Stain is the third studio album by American rock band Living Colour, released on 2 March 1993 through Epic. It follows Vivid and Time's Up, and it is the first record to feature bassist Doug Wimbish. The band's funk metal roots are still audible, but the sound here is heavier and the themes more pessimistic, with the songs ranging across several genres.
It reached number 26 on the Billboard 200, and "Leave It Alone" earned a Grammy nomination for Best Hard Rock Performance at the 1994 ceremony, losing out to Stone Temple Pilots' "Plush". The album later spent years out of print after a lawsuit over the name, before returning in 2013 and then on green vinyl in 2018. It has since come to be regarded as a dark horse of the alternative and heavy scenes, and it rewards anyone who only knows the band's earlier work.
