Living Colour

Living Colour are a New York City rock band, formed in 1984 around guitarist Vernon Reid, singer Corey Glover and drummer Will Calhoun. Doug Wimbish took over on bass from Muzz Skillings in 1992. Their sound pulls hard rock, funk and heavy metal together with jazz, hip-hop, punk and blues, and their lyrics move between the personal and the political, including pointed commentary on racism in the United States.

Their 1988 debut, Vivid, brought them wide attention, and its signature song "Cult of Personality" won a Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance in 1990. They were named Best New Artist at the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards, and Time's Up (1990) earned a second Grammy. Stain followed in 1993 to good reviews. The band split in 1995, reunited in late 2000, and have since made Collideøscope, The Chair in the Doorway and Shade (2017).
