Quiet Riot's self-titled debut came out on 2 March 1978, and it was released only in Japan, through CBS/Sony. It's a hard rock and heavy metal record with a glam rock edge, made by the American band long before they became a name elsewhere.

The main reason to seek it out is guitarist Randy Rhoads, who went on to play on Ozzy Osbourne's first two solo albums. Here you can hear him at an earlier stage, working in a very different band. It was the first of two albums released under the Quiet Riot name in 1978, with Quiet Riot II following, and it sits well before the group's 1983 album Metal Health. For anyone tracing the band's story or Rhoads's path, it's the place to begin.
