The Collection
The Collection is a compilation of Quiet Riot recordings, released on 16 May 2000 by Connoisseur Collection, with a US release the same year. It sits between the band's 1999 album Alive and Well and 2001's Guilty Pleasures, at a point when the Los Angeles heavy metal outfit were still recording and touring through several lineup changes and brief breakups.
For newcomers, it's a handy way into a band whose story runs deeper than its biggest hits. Quiet Riot formed in 1973 around guitarist Randy Rhoads, bassist Kelly Garni and vocalist Kevin DuBrow. They reached their commercial peak a decade later with Metal Health, the first heavy metal album to top the Billboard album chart. That record gave them hit singles in "Cum On Feel the Noize", a cover of the Slade song, and "Metal Health (Bang Your Head)".
