Mad Season
Mad Season is the second studio album by American rock band Matchbox Twenty, released on 23 May 2000 through Atlantic. It followed their 1996 debut, Yourself or Someone Like You, and sits between that record and 2002's More Than You Think You Are. The sound blends alternative rock, pop rock and a post-grunge edge, with a ready ear for a big chorus.
It is best known for its singles, and there were plenty. "Bent" went to number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, the band's first and only chart-topper there. "If You're Gone" and "Crutch" followed on the same day in September 2000, the first aimed at pop radio and the second at rock radio, a neat way of reaching two audiences at once. The title track and "Last Beautiful Girl" closed out the run in 2001. For anyone who remembers the turn of the millennium on the radio, this is the one to revisit.
